Enjoy stunning views of the Gold Coast and beyond during a private, 60-minute scenic flight. Take to the skies from Gold Coast Airport and admire sweeping aerial vistas of world-famous surfing beaches including the iconic Surfers Paradise. View Mt. Warning and the Tweed volcano before flying over the pristine Rocky Creek Dam. Spot Byron Bay on the horizon then return via Hastings Point and along the Tweed coast of NSW.
Arrive at the aviation base at Gold Coast Airport where you’ll meet your pilot. Receive a safety briefing and orientation, with time to snap photos in front of your 3-passenger aircraft before boarding. After getting comfortable in your seat and putting on the provided headset, listen to your pilots commentary as your plane lifts up into the sky. Your scenic flight covers Australias Green Cauldron National Landscape in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, an area of lush World Heritage rainforests, dramatic mountain ranges, unspoiled beaches, and phenomenal surf breaks.
Fly up the Tweed Valley inside the remnant of an ancient shield volcano toward Mt. Warning, which stands at an impressive height of 3,795 feet (1,157 meters) above sea level. Also called by its Aboriginal name Wollumbin, translated as Cloud Catcher, it stands majestically in the heart of a caldera and is the first point in Australia to see the sunrise each day. The vast caldera stretches from Byron Bay to the Gold Coast and west toward the Great Dividing Range, and is the largest shield volcano in the southern hemisphere.
Following the crater rim, your pilot continues past Sphinx Rock, over Nightcap National Park and the town of Nimbin. Turning toward the coast you’ll fly over Rocky Creek Dam where the rugged landscape transforms to the cultivated hills of the Byron Bay Hinterland with the popular resort town of Byron Bay on the horizon. Look out for the Cape Byron Lighthouse located on the easternmost point of mainland Australia, before heading north along the undeveloped Tweed Coast via Hastings Point and the seaside town of Kingscliff as you make your way back to the Gold Coast.
Your expert pilot provides a safe flight and fascinating information to give you a greater understanding of this beautiful Australian coastal region.
